So Long, Greece! Epic Journey Home to New York from Naxos

We were up and out of the villa by 8 am this morning, staring down a very, very long journey home. Door to door about 17+ hours. The flight from Athens to New York is 10 hours…

Not much to report from the day except that we were very early for both flights (Naxos > Athens > JFK). Here are a few scenes from our journey:

We landed at 6 pm, total zombies.

New York is experiencing a heat wave, but it still felt like a brisk October afternoon compared to Greece. Pulling off the FDR we saw a troupe of dancing Chinese grandmas doing their routines, and it made me so happy. I love this city.

Willa and James have no camp this upcoming week, so we’ll use the time to get out into NY and explore — we’re seeing “In the Heights” tomorrow, and will make trips to the Natural Hist museum to see the new gems/minerals exhibit and some other things. Great trip, glad to be home.

Also glad to have picked back up the travelogue’ing here on the ol blog — will perhaps tune back in in August when we take the kids out west to see San Francisco and LA (and Los Gatos and Laguna Beach!).

Until then!
