Here Are Some Questions I Really Want to Ask “2020 Margaret and Teddy”

The year ahead holds so many unknowns. We can plan and plot and wonder and research and discuss all we want, but we basically have no idea what we’re getting into. In a good way, of course, but still.

With that in mind, I jotted down some questions in the hopes that we remember to answer them along the way or use them to reflect when we’re back.  -M

PLANNING

If you could have done something differently about the year, what would it have been?

If you were giving advice to 2018 Teddy and Margaret, what would you tell them?

What did you least anticipate when you were packing/planning?

What did you way overthink during planning that really had no impact?

ALONG THE WAY

Name a place that was way better than what you expected?

What about a place that underwhelmed?

What moments challenged your worldview?

Did you feel homesick? How frequently?

Did the kids and/or your spouse drive you insane? Or was it all good?

What did it feel like to be so removed from the familiar?

KIDS

How do you think this trip impacted the kids?

What kinds of lasting impressions do you think it had on them? Do you think it did in fact “shape” them?

How did the kids grow and mature over the year (if at all?) What changed about their personalities that might not have happened if they’d stayed in NYC?

RETURN

What did you miss about home the most?

What do you miss about being on the road the most?

How do you feel about your previous life (NYC, Blue School, careers) now that you’re back?

Are you sad that it’s over? Or relieved to be done and back? Or both?
