Day 14: We arrive at the Titilaka Lodge
- After 24 hours in Lima we took a short flight to Juliaca, an airport at 12,500 feet of elevation and about 20 miles from Lake Titicaca.
- We took a 1 hour and 45 min drive from Juliaca through Puno to the Titilaka Lodge on Lake Titicaca.
- When planning our year of travels we decided to budget for a small handful of unique and splurge-worthy hotel experiences. This is one of them.
- We are 5 of the 11 people currently staying at the lodge. We have semi-connecting rooms — our fam in a “dusk” room that faces the sunset and LOBSY in the “dawn” room that faces the sunrise.
- The locals were having a party next to the hotel when we arrived. Willa ran around with the kids and for a bit.
- Spent the afternoon exploring the waterfront, relaxing, playing board / card games. All of us are feeling the altitude a bit. James is not himself once again —- maybe altitude, maybe traveler’s belly or maybe just exhausted. He didn’t eat much today and asked for bed before dinner.
- Tonight’s moon is a “super blood wolf moon” according to Space.com. The rising of the moon over the lake was spectacular.
Photographs can’t really capture the beauty of this place — especially the moon. Including a bunch here.

Embarrassed that we’re riding in the one on the right
