Day 3: Bidding farewell to Didi for now — Off to Bogota

Still having photo gallery issues. Enjoy the sideways, out of order pics for now.

At breakfast, we were back among the business crowd for buffet then strolled over to Emancipation Park.

EP is a public park in the heart of Downtown Kingston with immaculate lawns, trees and flowers. There is a famous sculpture of a man and woman slave staring at the heavens, and busts of notable civil rights leaders.

The place was pristine. No trash, no loiterers. Lots of joggers running laps on the peripheral path. We climbed a tree but a security guard (very nicely) told us to get down. We kicked the ball, played hopscotch and did one walking lap. We admired the sculptures.

Had a dip in the pool back at the hotel and then we needed to pack up.

Didi and Delroy took us to the airport where we said our goodbyes. It was pretty damn sad. Willa bawled. 😭

Observations/thoughts:

  • Re packing, we already see there are things that have to go. Even in our light packing state we have useless junk packed to the gills. There will be a mini purge in our next stop.
  • Our kids are way too scared of bugs. Need to work on this. One damn bumble bee terrorized our city kids at the pool by flying **200 feet away from them.**
  • Didi is the best. Tomorrow is her birthday.

Now: Bogota!

Arrived in Bogota at 9 pm via Panama City, and had a ride to our Airbnb, which is lovely. Surreal to stand in it after staring at photos of it online for months. Straight to bed!
