Day 153: Getting a *Little Bit* More on Board with Rainy Disneyland (But Not Really)

James woke up asking if we could hurry to go on Thunder Mountain again.

Bed head and stained sweater.

The kids’ (sudden/newfound) excitement was contagious and we got rolling.

I’m sicker today than I was yesterday, though. And it’s cold and off-and-on rainy! Waaaaaa.

Today we mastered the FastPass thing, which meant that we avoided a bunch of lines.

We did the Star Wars 3-D ride twice and Thunder Mountain three more times!

I got grief for looking “asleep” on one of the Thunder Mountain photos and doubled down on my “excitement” on the next go:

Everyone’s spirits were a little higher — especially the kids’, which helped buoy the sullen parents…

Though Teddy did have to wait 45 minutes in line for the worst “Mexican” lunch we’ve ever had — for $60 we had three microwaved “fajitas,” two cups of chips (stale Doritos) and guacamole in plastic pouches as if it were ketchup. Barf!! How can they get away with this?

All these not-wealthy families shelling out major cash for mediocre-at-best slop. Shame on Disney!

After it rained on our parade — literally, it rained during the daily parade — we threw in the towel, called it a great visit, and went back to our room by 6 pm to warm up, eat a sandwich and watch a movie in bed.

The kids watched “Brave” and we watched episode 5 of Thrones (whoa – GOOD ONE!).

We were all asleep by 9:30.

Still baffled by the whole Disney thing but satisfied that we’d checked that box and that the kids really seemed to enjoy themselves in the end.

And they’ll probably come away with magical childhood memories like their parents did — and be compelled to continue the cycle of hell with their own kids some day!! Hahaha.
