Day 151: St. Cibard to Disneyland Paris — A Train Platform Incident — The Hotel Cheyenne
It rained all night last night. We kept the window open so it was cool and cozy in our room at the Thienpont chateau.
There has been a consistent theme all year: it’s always raining on getaway day. It doesn’t bother us and typically it makes it a bit easier to leave a beautiful destination.
After breakfast with Sabine and Dominique we piled into our car with Dominique in shotgun. He was headed to Bordeaux for a Theology class.
It was pouring rain when we dropped off the car and we all ran into the station getting a bit soaked. Dominique helped with the bags.
The Incident of the day happened as we were getting on the train. Margaret and Willa got on first stepping over relatively large gap between the train and the platform. James followed them but Margaret stopped which bumped James backwards he stepped back and his foot went through the gap. He fell down but was caught by one leg, his arms and his backpack. I grabbed him and pulled him up. He was scared and burst into tears but only had a little fat lip. Jesus. Our hearts were racing for the next 10 minutes — that could have been much worse.
Here’s Margaret’s napkin drawing from dinner.

The train ride was uneventful after that. The kids watched iPads and Margaret and I wrote blog posts.
We caught a ride from Paris out to our Disneyland hotel. Both kids slept.

We’re staying in budget-conscious accommodations here — one small room in the 2-star Hotel Cheyenne. It’s old western themed property and our room is Woody (Toy Story) themed. It is far from fancy but it’s clean and functional — we don’t plan to spend much time here in the next few days.
We dropped our bags then walked over into Disney village for dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Might as well be 1998 in the Tysons Corner Mall! Food and Margaritas were not very good but the kids liked the scenery, fish tank and menus for coloring.

We were all home and getting ready for bed by 7pm. Big day at Disney tomorrow!
