Day 143: Chilling and Grilling at the Mijas Villa
We happily re-racked another super chill sunny day in Mijas.
Slow wake up without one alarm sounding — even Oscar slept well.
Coffee, breakfast, kids playing outside, grownups reading, writing, chatting. A little exercise: jogging up the Mijas hills, swimming laps in the pool.
Everyone loved Oscar’s “swimming costume.”
Puzzles inside and hammock outside, until it split down the middle.
Grilled chicken and salad for lunch, washed down by stiff margaritas that derailed a tentative plan to hit Mijas Pueblo for tapas and kid dinner. Why leave this place?
Claire and Harlow organized a soccer game in the afternoon.

A mini-dance party broke out in the late afternoon.
Margaret and I made a grocery and butcher run in Mijas. This little town is quintessential costa del sol. Beautiful white buildings and authentic shops that take you to another time — until you run into a big group of British tourists getting off a massive bus.
Apparently the fresh fish is only available at the market in the morning so we went to the butcher and got more chicken for the grill. We added baked potatoes plus a salad of cucumber, avo, tomato and red onion. Ice cream with fresh peanuts in caramel for dessert.

We sat down around 10pm after the kids were (mostly) asleep.
Pretty much a perfect vacation day!
