Day 46: A Big Travel Day from Amazonia to Bahia
It began with a two and half hour hair-raising cab in a rainstorm from the deep rainforest to Manaus Airport.
From there we flew 3.5 hours to Fortaleza (never heard of it before today) and connected to Salvador on a second, 2-hour flight. Uber’s available everywhere but Uber XL isn’t — and with our bags we’re learning that we can’t fit in a hatchback. So we got a van cab to our hotel – had a very late room service dinner and crashed.
Big takeaway of the day was that our kids are getting the hang of the travel thing. Waiting in airports didn’t faze them today. They know the drill at security. They sense when to ask questions and when to let the grownups figure things out in peace. It was lovely, actually.
Shows they’re into these days are “Sherman and Mr. Peabody,” “Wild Kratts” and “Brainchild.” Teddy watched “The Revenant” and finished the series “Last Chance U” from Netflix. I finished “Friends from College” Season 2 and watched “The Resistance Banker.”
