Day 51: Resort chilling — We attempt a work session — Afternoon bike tour
Chill day
Slept in a bit, raced to get to breakfast before the buffet closed at…. 10am! We’ve kinda stayed on Amazonia time so we’ve been putting kids to bed at 9 or 10 so I guess a 9am wake up is allowed? That and we’re also jobless beach bums.
Had School after breakfast — though we’ve discussed a rebrand and calling it “learning.” We’ve got in a good rhythm this week, knocking out 90 min or so after breakfast every day.
Work Session
A bunch of to-dos had piled up for me and Margaret — many related to trip logistics for the second half of the year. It’s been surprisingly hard finding time to get those things done. At night after the kids are asleep we are too tired for focused work and we’re also trying to write this blog consistently. So, we took them to a shallow pool and let them frolic while Margaret and I tried to bang out some work. It sorta worked — they played for a bit but then got bored and whiny. There are times when they play really well together without parent involvement. (Example: early morning after waking up *if* they are sleeping in a separate room from mommy and daddy.) But they have to been in the right mood. Still, we got through a productive hour or so and then I took the kids to the beach after lunch while Margaret finished up. Bottom line: one assumption I had totally wrong about this year: that I’d be bored with so much downtime on my hands. Not the case. We have planned some full days for sure, but mostly it’s that the kids just require time and attention 95% of the day. Goal: make it 80% by end of the year.

Bike Tour
We scheduled a short bike tour through a nature reserve and the little beach town next to the resort. Beautiful afternoon. Super nice instructor who encouraged us to stop for pics. Glad we did it. Now we gotta teach our kids to ride bikes.
James and I kicked the futebal around for a bit as the sun was setting.

After dinner we all laid down on these flat net lounges near the pool and stared at an incredible sky filled with stars. A few special minutes I hope to remember.
