Day 24: Ever wonder who does the hop on / hop off bus tours?

We do!

Relaxing yet productive day:

  • Breakfast at home (love a hotel breakfast buffet but needed a break)
  • Walked 15 min to Plaza de Armas to catch the Turistik hop-on / hop-off bus for a cliffsnotes tour of the city.
  • We sat up on the top deck and made it about halfway through the 2-hour loop, listening to a recorded overview of the city highlights. Pleasant, informative and efficient!
  • Bought a two-day pass that includes the funicular to the Cerro San Cristobal and the St. Mary statue for views of the city which we’ll hit tomorrow morning.
  • We hopped off the bus in La Providencia neighborhood for lunch.
  • We beat the corporate rush at Le Bistrot, a highly rated French bistro. The food was meh — still looking for our first legit meal in Santiago.
  • Uber’d home, grabbed a to-go coffee at quirky-cool Domestico around the corner — much needed caffeine to fuel a couple hours of home schooling teachers in a waaaaaarm apartment.
  • The kids and I cooled off with a late afternoon swim on the roof before having dinner at home.

Beatles love in Chile:

  • When we got to Plaza del Armas this morning there was a Beatles Tribute Band on top of a roof, celebrating 50 years of the band.

Playground Alert!

This barely qualifies but the kids found a mini-playground in the courtyard of our building.
